Hello all! So, this is my first go at a blog or anything like this and it is very intimidating!
I wasn't very keen on doing it but I think it is the best way to keep in touch with you all and, more importantly, I want you all to know first hand what God is doing in other parts of this world.
Especially for those of you who have been praying for me and this trip and have contributed to getting me there! Thank you!
I'm going to do my best to keep this updated with pics and all:)
For those of you who aren't up to date on what I'm doing(sorry!).....
I am leaving Monday(3/30) morning from Wichita. 18 hrs worth of flying and 11 hrs worth of layovers later I will land in Lagos, Nigeria where I will take another small plane to get to Nsukka, where I will live for the next 3 months. I am going to be living/working with a family I've know for a long time, Joey and Bev Starling and their kids.Their main ministry is a home for orphans or children who have been abandoned or their parents are to sick to take care of them. It is called A Place of Hope(check out their website http://www.aplaceofhopeafrica.org).
They are dedicated to giving them a loving home, getting them the medicines they need(at least one is HIV positive), giving them a good education, and above all, showing and sharing Christ by being His hands and feet.
They also are starting a seminary next month, are getting involved in student's lives at a nearby university and dealing with the every day things of living in a third world country.
This has been a dream of mine for a long time and I am so excited to see what God is going to do in and through me and the people I meet there and along the way! Also just to get away from the way of life in the states and to live simply! This I am so excited about!
I just want to ask anyone who takes the time to read this to please keep this trip in your prayers. Most of all that I would be utterly and completely reliant and dependent on the Spirit's leading and dead to self.
Please pray for the Starlings ministry, that God would bless it, that their would be unity in the Body, and that we seek Him in EVERYthing.
I love you guys and will miss you! Please let me know how I can pray for you and keep in touch! Any kind of communication will be so encouraging and, trust me, I will need constant reminders that this isn't about me. I am someone who whines when it gets over 70 degrees so this is soooo out of my comfort zone!
because of Him,
britt
